1945 Style Trends by National Plan Service

This small house is another pretty house that could easily be described as a Cape Cod even though its plan is quite different. It has a detached single-car garage with breezeway access into the kitchen ... quite a progressive design for an early Post War home. From the front entry, visitors would step up to the living room. The effect from the tiny vestibule would have have been a "compress and release" effect, in which moving from the small space to the larger room would have been very impressive ... especially if care had been taken in the design of the fireplace and mantel.
